The Process
How tile, paint, and puzzle pieces bring each work to life.

MOVING PIECES, ONE AFTER ANOTHER

Step 1
In the first step, there is not much thinking, but more of a feeling on how to begin. It is like opening a refrigerator and cooking dinner with what I find. I see what I have, colors of glass, empty frames, pictures, and find inspiration there.

Step 2
Using the missing images, I draw a composition. If I like a plant on a picture, I will draw that; if I like a flower, I will draw that, and so on.

Step 3
Following the composition, I complete a basic acrylic painting. From there, I just go for it. Every piece is an exploration on new ways to do things. I get bored doing the same things, so there is no consistency on my creative process, yet I enjoy knowing that someone can see the same hand completes all the pieces.

Step 4
This is the fun part, making a puzzle. Not much thinking involved here, just letting the pieces put themselves together.

Step 5
When creating the grout, I make a different shade, color, and consistancy each time to suite the piece in creation.

Final
Once framed, the piece is complete.
